My name is Sergun Özmen,

I am a dedicated person with a family of one. I love meeting new people and learning about their lives and their backgrounds. People find me self-motivated with excellent communication skills. Additionally, I’d describe myself as being very resourceful, cooperative, and ambitious at the same time. I find solutions, get creative, and solve problems. I’m taking part in the SelfTech as one of the co-founders right now because I want to work on large, important projects and challenge myself.

I earned my Bachelor of Science, major in computer engineering, in 1997. I learned a wide range of skills and knowledge in computer programming during my study. But more importantly, I have developed a strong learning ability and analytical thinking skills. I was fortunate to find myself in the emerging industry of High Tech Communications. My first position was software/system designer, focusing on the design and implementation of telecommunication systems. I believe my skills and qualities made a valuable contribution to my company Nortel Network and my professional career. I spent 8+ years of experience developing cutting-edge engineering solutions with a wide range of communication features in R&D research facilities located in the United States, England, and Ireland. During the time of my professional life, paragliding has been my hobby since my 20s. One night, I realized that my hobby had transformed into a passion. That is to say; I am passionate about flying. This passion led me to challenge myself daily and learn new skills that helped me do better work. I thrive on challenges, so I have something to strive toward. So that I received my commercial pilot license in Daytona Beach, Florida, and I joined Sunexpress Airlines as a first officer in 2007. After several years, I was upgraded to Captain in 2013. During my time in aviation, I constantly set goals for myself. Graduation from the Florida Institute of  Technology Master of Science in Aviation Safety in 2020 was one of them. In 2018, I joined a flag carrier, one of Turkey’s most precious values, Turkish Airlines. While enjoying commanding a A330family of aircraft, I pride myself that I never fall apart from engineering. My skills and experience helped me to have the courage to develop and implement a new aeronautical communication protocol during migration efforts from voice communication to text-based communication in the aviation industry. Thus, I have held a patent named ATCAMP (Air Traffic Control and Management Protocol) regarding this new era of aeronautical communication. I have been studying aeronautical communication for my Ph.D. degree at DE Montfort University in Leicester, England.

Because I love what I do, I have a steady source of motivation that drives me to do my best. Since I’m always looking for an opportunity to do better and achieve greatness, I took part in SelfTech Company as co-founder with my lovely investor Mr. Tolga Sandal. I dedicated myself to developing and implementing cutting-edge smart city and smart business solutions based on the protocol I introduced in aviation.
